Ritz Carlton Astana

Inspired by the Kazakh Steppes
A new showpiece garden opposite the lobby lounge provides an outdoor dining experience for Ritz Carlton’s signature restaurant.

A new private space is formed at the front of the hotel using curved feature stone walls to create privacy and shelter. The natural stone selected seeks to create a warm tonal palette that closely matches the architectural limestone facade with a central feature water wall providing a focus to the new garden courtyard.

Tiers of planting within stepped planters provide planting zones above the basement slab. The climatic extremes in Astana vary dramatically, from +40 in summer to -40 in winter and as such a robust evergreen palette of trees and shrubs were carefully selected to be able to withstand the local conditions and provide a verdant backdrop during the summer months.
